Kindly go through it and if possible this may be taken in your magazine preferably in margazhi. LIVING ABROAD AND FOLLOWING RITUALS

Dear Mama,
I attach a note in response to vaideekam group enquiries about what shastras
are to be followed while living abroad? You may please see this and if you
find it worthy of putting it up in vaideekam group mail, you may decide.
Kind regards,
Adiyen, Dasan Padmanabhan
Dear Mama,
The question raised about our following shastram in other countries when we
migrate there has also been agitating my mind for several years. I was also
contemplating some agreeable answers. Even now, the answers appearing in my
mind are not satisfactory even to me. However, I share these with the group
subject to your permission.
1. Sometime back (about 10 years back), when I went to worship Sri
Ranganatha in Srirangam, one Archakar swami was introduced to me by one of
my clients and he took me inside the sannidhi of Sri Ranganatha and told me
to offer my worship. Actually, the question he asked me at the end of
Karpura Arthi which he did to the Lord, "Swamin, mangalasasanam aacha?". I
was instantly thrilled and felt the Lord had blessed me. The Archakar Swami
then took me to his house and gave me prasadams (food prasadams). We were
engaged in a small conversation. He told me that he was offered lucrative
posts in prominent US temples, but he had declined to take them as according
to him if one were to follow the shastras, one should not cross the oceans
and go abroad for a living. He even told me that in Srirangam temple, a
procedure is being followed that if any of its archakas go abroad and
return, they become unfit to touch the Lord inside the garbhagraha. He
considered it great to serve Lord Ranganatha inside the garbhagraha
throughout his life and not worry about fortunes that may come to him if he
goes abroad.
2. I know all cannot be like the above Swamin (a true servant of God
desiring to follow our shastrams and practices as laid down by our religious
and pious ancestors).
3. While some of us have to send our children abroad for economic reasons
and while some children want to grow and become rich faster by going abroad
and trying their own luck, it has become a routine for us to have someone or
other or all of the family members living abroad, these days. We always
find excuses to justify this growing phenomenon.
4. There is nothing wrong in the above, but if we want to confuse and create
confusion in others' minds of our following shastras or not following
shastras while living abroad, we are starting avoidable controversies with
as many views as there are such people living abroad. The western education
coupled with local culture and practices certainly influence one living
there irrespective of how serious he wants to follow Indian shastras
completely.
5. I read in one Smriti years ago, may be Manu Smriti, that the injunctions
laid down thereunder apply to Bharatha Desa, Bharata Varsha and the like to
say that they have a geographical boundary or limitation. Again I am not
giving reasons to others who are in search of excuses for not doing karmas
which are otherwise ordained on them.
6. It is only the Paramatma, Sriman Narayana who is changeless in all
locations, all times and in all stages (Sarvadesa, Sarvakala and
Sarvavasthitha) and those born in the Earth to discharge their karmas, the
births themselves being the result of karmas, we have to acknowledge that we
cannot perfectly and without flaw do anything, especially in religious dos
and don'ts. No doubt, we add to our papams and punyams by such indulgence
and that goes to prove we have to have many many more births before reaching
Paramapadam.
7. Considering everything that is said above and that is implied in what has
been said above and that which can be inferred from the above, my manas only
tells me to follow the path of total surrender to the Almighty God, Sriman
Narayana as taught to us by our revered teachers like Sri Ramanuja, Sri
Vedanta Desika and other giants who lived centuries ago. That is
Bharanyasam and in addition, as taught to us by the Poorvacharyas dedicate
all actions, thoughts and words to the Almighty with sincere feelings that
"I am not the doer" "nothing is mine" "I am incapable of protecting me and
when it is so, how can I protect others or other things" "I am nobody and am
myself the property of Sriman Narayana and therefore ineligible to act on my
own", etc.
If I sound a bit out of place in a vaideekam group for sharing the above,
this msg. can be left out in group mails.
With kind regards,
Adiyen, Dasan Padmanabhan

Dear Sri.Ue.Ve.Padmanabhan sir,
any member can send any mail directly to the group without my permission. I am only filtering the messages which are totally irrelevant to the aim of this group.
I will never reject a relevant message even with complaints on me or with controversial statements.
And I am not allowing few mails which are sent only with thanks giving.
And few mails I am not allowing with contents which I could not totally understand.
Also I am avoiding some mails like support my cause etc.
I found one or two sending the complete bunch of messages discussed in other groups.
Though I am strictly moderating the messages frequently some members are leaving this group without stating any reason.
Let it be, I am coming to the matter:
I went through your points and found a strong guilty smell.
Now I wish to add my view about it.
From birth, till this date we are doing many wrong things knowingly or unknowingly, either by circumstance or by wish.
So, we can not escape from the sins what we did. And what I say,
we should not try to escape. As you have said in your last para
we should only believe HIS Karunyam. Which can be availed only by accepting our sins as "Ahamasmi aparaadha chakravarthy".
We have many example for HIS Karunai like:
"Andreendra kandrin vazhuvai suvaithunnum ..."
"Thannadiyar than thirathu thaamaraiyaalagilum
sidhakuraikkumel,
thannadiyar adhu seyyaar, seydhaarel nandru seydhaar"
Here vidwans will say, "Perumal using the word 'adhu' instead of 'thavaru', because he not at all wanted to use that word agains HIS bhakthas"
So, if we had a solid mind as "I did many things wrong knowingly and unknowingly, for that nothing else I can do except 'kshamaarpanam' which is my swaroopam also. I came to know that you will not mind these, as per your swaroopam. If you decided to punish, do it, I take it as the pariharam."
There will be no fear or guilty, if we are mentally prepared to accept our mistakes and punishment for that.
After getting this, I am able to do things more or less like a 'sthithaprjgan'.
dasan,
